Darche Dirty Dee 1400 Swag(5) By: Andrew on 7 October 2017In this day and age, why on earth do swag manufacturers continue to sew their straps for rolling the swag on the pillow end of the swag? This means for the 99% of people who do use a self inflating mattress, you need to un do the swag, pull out all the sheets to unscrew the bungs in the self inflating mattress before you can roll it up. This is really a basic design flaw. Even the most inexperienced campers understand this as a major design issue the first time you use a sway designed like this.
Tentworld ResponseWe agree, pimping your swag with a self inflating mattress is the way to go if you want the best nights sleep, and a more compact swag roll. Self inflating mats can come with valves in all different places, Darches All Terrain Mattresses even have valves at the head & foot of the swag to allow for however your swag rolls (Just use two of the four). Alternatively, the Blackwolf self inflating mats do have valves at the head end. Alternatively, if you do love your current self inflating mattress, then buying some tie down straps, and just removing the factory straps will give you that flexibility for minimal expense. Hope this helps! Happy Camping ~ Tentworld Team
Darche Dirty Dee 1400 Swag(4) By: Mark on 31 July 2017The usual Darche quality canvas work, very roomy with near vertical walls and includes a fairly robust canvas storage bag that’s big enough to fit the sag with a mattress and sleeping gear rolled up inside. While it’s a good swag, it misses the mark on few things. It would be good if they offered a premium option paired with their 1300mm wide self-inflating mat (the included mat isn't great). The straps are sewn into the foot end of the swag. If they were sewn into the head end it would make rolling up a self-inflating mat inside the swag a possibility – as it is you’d have to put the valves at the foot end, making it difficult to inflate/deflate and adjust a descent mat, which is a poor design given the increasing options of good quality self-inflating mats these days. Factor in a set of buckle straps to secure it once rolled up if using an inflating mat. Internal width is questionable. An exped mega mat duo measuring 1320mm wide is a friction fit in this 1400mm wide swag. Mats any wider than 1320mm would need to bow to fit inside, I guess they are made for the Darche 1300mm wide inflating mats. The storage bag is good, but not waterproof and leaked along the zip area in driving rain on a roofrack. The swag was zipped up so remained dry on the inside. The upgrade for the bag is the waterproof Darche Nero 240 (or roll it up in a tarp or use some jumbo garbage bags).
