Opinel's best seller, the N°08 is extremely versitile. It is an ideal size to be kept in your pocket or bag and is large enough for most tasks around the home, campsite or workplace. The Virobloc safety ring mechanism will lock the blade in a closed or open position.

  • Stainless Steel - The corrosion-resistant stainless-steel blades are made of Swedish Sandvik steel and require no special care
  • Handle - Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, our beech is hard, durable and easy to work. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is characterized by the presence of numerous small dark dashes
  • Safety ring - Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).

Blade Material:  Sandvik 12C27 Modified Stainless Steel.  It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome & requires no special maintenance.  It's carbon content is at least 0.40% giving it an excellent cutting edge.

Blade Style:  1/7mm thick, Yatagan shape.  Yatagan is inspired by the traditional Turkish Saber, the toe up.  The blade is ground to an exclusive convex profile that ensures the strength of the blade and allows efficient regriding.

Handle:  Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel Knives.  From France, Beech is hard, durable and easy to work.  With a homogenous appearance, its light colour varies from yellow to pink.  It is characterized by the presence of small dark sashes.  

Safety:  Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Viroblock safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the No 6 and higher.  It's cut from stainless steel, and has two sections.  One Fixed & One Sliding.  In addition to locking the blade open for safety in use, it is now possible to also lock the blade closed for safety during transit.

Warranty

Opinel products come with a lifetime warranty and are exchanged in case of defects in materials and workmanship. 

Damage due to normal wear and tear, improper use, dismantling or other alterations, are not covered by the warranty.
