Supa Peg Glowing Guy Rope Marker - 6 Pack

I thought you'd be able to just clip them onto the guy rope but you have to thread them on and the guy ropes have metal or plastic fittings that don't allow threading. If they had a split down them lengthwise you could attach them. Maybe there's a special way of putting them on that I'm too dumb to work out. They actually do glow in the dark!

They worked really well, highlighted the guy ropes and made walking around the tarp and tents much safer at night.

These markers were bigger/longer than I expected, but nothing ridiculous. Their size probably helps as they aren't exactly the most luminous of items. They certainly work well enough if your eyes are dark adapted and are strolling through a campsite without a torch, but if you have come out from an already illuminated tent, they aren't really visible. Under dark-adapted eye conditions they become recognisable from a distance of about 5-10 metres away. They are more identifiable in the dark when you aren't looking directly at them. I can't comment on how long they last, but they certainly worked for at least the first 6 hours following sunset. The glow becomes very obvious if you charge them up with a very bright torch, which can even be detected indoors during daylight and with the curtains closed. In normal camping use, the glow seems perhaps half as bright as a freshly snapped chemical glow stick - maybe similar to a chemical glow stick 12 hours after being snapped. You won't be reading books in the dark using these, but you won't be tripping over ropes either. Considering that they are out in the weather, aren't powered at all, appear very durable and that it is only a one-off purchase, I would say that they are a reasonably good purchase for the safety-conscious person. A rating of 3/5 doesn't do them justice but 4/5 seems too generous; if possible, I would rate them 3.5 out of 5 stars.
