Opinel Outdoor No.08 Folding Knife - Orange

The Opinel Outdoor No.08 Folding Knife features a 2.5mm thick blade that is serrated over 3.5cm to cut natural or synthetic ropes. It also has a shackle key for 4-10mm shackles. Made from Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel, the Opinel Outdoor No.08 Folding Knife is anti-corrosive due to the addition of crhome and requires no special maintenance! The carbon content of at least 0.40% in the steel provides an excellent cutting edge.

Cut of from a strip of steel, the blade is heat-treated to alter the internal structure of the steel, making it very hard. This raw blade then passes through a series of specific grinding wheels in the fully robotised grinding-polishing machines. They give it the unique domed Opinel profile which ensures unrivalled strength and cutting edge.

The fibreglass-reinforced polyamide handle withstands shocks, humidity and extreme temperatures and includes a pealess survival whistle that functions in all weathers.

Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives as of the No.06 - cut out of stainless steel, the Viroblac has two sections: one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
